Using this blog as a research sketchbook, here are some photos I took from the RHS Botanical Art and Photography Show 2026. My favourite work was Louise Sayers's. I was also touched by the words of some artists as they echoed with my own experiences and feelings from working with plants. I found Denise Bernon's work very Victorian in a macabre and dry scientific way. Corine Whitehouse's reminded me of my own interest for glasshouses, even though I am more interested in the artificiality and somehow in the selfishness of wanting to keep plants that without heating and watering wouldn't survive in our climate. I discovered Lytisha's garden this week and the abandonned glass house that a friend will dismantle to transport in his own garden. I was touched by the poetic beauty of plants wildly growing inside  as well  as  outside, suspending the function of this glass house.

 

  Ordinary people in extoardinary situations. Is her work irreverent, profane, desacrating ? As I look at these photographs, I don't know what the situation is. I don't know what the ritual is. I don't know what is part of the ritual and what is not. This makes these images extremly surprising to me. People being hilarious when we would expect them to be serious. Joyfull and fascetious people. Cristina Garcia Rodero was looking for behind-the-scene moments and for behaviors that go against the seriousness of the religious rituals. Sometimes it takes time to realise how much an event can impact on one's life. Only one year ago, after 6 months in a rented accommodation, we moved back into our house that had been damaged by a fire. It is only a few months ago that I was able to see the impact this had had on my life and how it put my artistic life on hold. I now feel fully back to creating new work .... To turn the page on this accident, I wanted to post some of the images I took during this period.
